Coaches comments:
A terrific 4 quarter performance V Williamstown. The midfield set the tone at the start, and followed up with a dominant 4 quarters. I want to mention each midfielder, as they all equally contributed in a big way. The backline was steadfast. Warren claimed another big scalp, and Parsons was exceptional in both offence and defence. Up forward, the spoils were shared. Bielby was efficient with 4 straight. Our ability to be clean, and get our handball game going made us very hand to defence. Everyone’s selfless attitude and willingness to buy-in was very pleasing. A big top 4 clash next week v OM’s.

Coaches comments:
The Two Blue Lions continued their strong run of form with a hard-fought seven-point victory over second-placed Old Haileybury in front of a passionate home crowd. Old Haileybury came out of the blocks strongly, taking an early lead and putting the girls under pressure. The Lions responded brilliantly in the second quarter, piling on three unanswered goals to wrestle back control and set up one of their most impressive wins of the season. Old Haileybury came hard in the third and final quarters, but our defence stood tall across the ground. Laura Bird produced a crucial goal-saving tackle, while Chloe Cafferkey won a huge one-on-one contest deep in defence with just minutes remaining. Lauren Kenneally was outstanding all game, taking a number of important contested marks and providing composure under pressure. Jessy Brown played their best game of the season, making a huge impact as a small forward. Their turn of pace and clean ball handling created several scoring opportunities and kept the Old Haileybury defence under constant pressure. It was a fantastic all-round team performance, with every player playing their role and contributing when it mattered most. The composure, pressure and determination shown across four quarters were key to securing the win. The girls now turn their attention to this weekend’s Elimination Final, where they will once again face Old Haileybury. With the confidence gained from an inspiring win and another tight contest expected, the Lions are ready to embrace the challenge and give everything to advance to the semi-finals.

Coaches comments:
A very good win against a side pressing for a spot in the finals. Well played again! Still much that can be improved over the next fortnight before the finals begin. Another bag of goals to Kobi George, the mid field dominate all day, the backline defending and attacking and a pleasing return to football by Lukasz Payne. The team and individual players must continue to take the first simple option, particularly forward of the centre. Training becomes very important over the next three weeks.

Coaches comments:
Round 15 saw us host Preston on the front turf at Wesley SKR. The prize for the winner was outright top spot on the ladder. Slippery, dewy conditions made for lots of skill errors early. Despite this, we made a strong start kicking 6 goals to 2, which really helped set up the game. The second quarter saw Preston find their game and with it momentum. Our backs had to defend repeatedly and our forwards didn’t get a look at as many opportunities. We were outscored 3 goals to 2, but held a 17 point lead at the main break. A lack of onfield voice/ communication was highlighted as the main ingredient required to improve structure around the ball. Our pressure also increased with multiple tackling efforts being rewarded. This increased pressure was reflected on the scoreboard, extending our lead to 33 points at three quarter time. Preston continued to challenge in the last and certainly kept us busy making changes in the hunt for fresh legs. We came away with the result we wanted, but certainly felt like we didn’t play our best football. The last home and away game against Old Xavs awaits.
