Round 1 Results

AROUND THE GROUNDS!

Hello to our Collegians family,

What a kick off to our 2024 campaigns across the board!

With a mixed bag of results and the first ever game for our third women’s side, it was a weekend to remember.

Let’s recap Round 1 below.

WOMENS ROUND 1 RESULTS

For the first time in our club’s proud and extensive history, we had THREE Women’s teams take to the Trott, and it didn’t disappoint!

With the canteen and bar open, the crowd came out to celebrate a great day for football, making the atmosphere one to remember.

A big thank you goes out to Cass Highfield who was instrumental in running the day!

WOMENS THIRDS:

Our Thirds Women’s side got off to a flying start on Saturday, with a resounding 103 to 0 win over West Brunswick.

With a big bench and plenty of spirit, it was very enjoyable to watch!

WOMENS RESERVES:

The Premier Women's Reserves followed afterwards and didn't disappoint with a 138 to 1 victory over Melbourne Uni.

WOMENS SENIORS:

As expected, the main game would be a closer contest.

Our Senior Womens team made it three for three at the Trott to start the campaign with a strong start, setting up a 37 to 26 win over Melbourne Uni.

Three from three in Round 1 - let’s keep this going!

MENS ROUND 1 RESULTS

Some mixed results for our Mens sides across the weekend.

Meantime, our Under 19s had a Bye after their string win in Round 1 last week.

MENS THIRDS:

The mens weekend started with our Thirds under lights at the Trott Friday night. A hard fought contest all day by our boys, but fell short 63 to 36 to Old Xavs.

MENS RESERVES:

The Men's Premier reserves started our day well at Elsternwick Park, with a 63 to 53 win over Old Melbournians, who have been finalists for a number of years in this division.

A stark contrast to Round 1 2023, it shows we have added depth and talent to the seniors lists.

The young players who the coaches have invested time into are now showing reward for effort.

MENS SENIORS:

The Senior mens came up short against a team set for a big 2024.

With a huge number of their players traveling last year and some recruiting, they were ready to take on the reigning premiers this time around.

Our boys started well, leading by 19 points at the first break.

The remainder of the game saw us matched for effort and the home team worked their way back into the contest.

With just one point in at three quarter time, OM's proved the better side and ran out 21 point winners.

I'm sure Jordie and the coaches will look at the good and bad points and rebound strongly this week in 2023 GF replay on our home deck.
