Schoolboys shine in the 19’s!
20 July, 2026
Last Saturday, we welcomed seven Wesley College Schoolboys into our Under 19s as top-up players, helping the side produce an outstanding 148-point victory.
The support Collegians receives from the Schoolboys program during the school holidays is incredibly important for two key reasons:
They bolster our numbers during one of the toughest periods of the season, when injuries and holidays can leave teams stretched.
They are exceptionally talented footballers, giving our Under 19s an added boost at a crucial stage of the season where every win counts.
Those who made the trip to Kew before heading across to Ivanhoe were treated to a glimpse of the next generation of Lions. Current Year 12 student Archie McManamny stole the show with a superb six-goal haul, while Tom Scott and Ryder Brits were outstanding in the contest. Bowie Crawford-Flett, Angus Hatnett, Oscar Ormsby and Charlie Bell also impressed with strong performances around the ground.
The Wesley football program continues to gather tremendous momentum under the guidance of Tom Langford and Brent Thiele. That growth was on full display during the two Friday night fixtures held at Harry Trott Oval earlier this year. The program is thriving, and we're excited that Collegians continues to be the destination club for these talented young footballers once they graduate from the College.
Best of luck to all of the Schoolboys returning to school this week, particularly those in Year 12 as they head into an important final term. We thank you for your contribution over the holidays and look forward to welcoming you back to Harry Trott Oval in the very near future.
