Bruce’s Top 12 Flicks
A selection of Bruce Tobin’s top images from the first half of the 2026 season
The Lions are firing in '26! There have been some incredible moments in the first 7 rounds, and Bruce Tobin has pulled together his favourite 12 snaps captured so far this season.
Sam Frost: Made a huge impact in his first game for Collegians, guiding the team to a terrific 27-point win against De La Salle - and didn't his teammates love it! Frosty brings incredible leadership and experience to the playing group and plenty of special moments for the camera. The ultimate Iceman!
Campbell Walker: There is always plenty of love for Campbell - none more so than in his first game as captain. The man with the trademark steely focus and clenched-fist determination after every goal is an inspiration to his teammates.
James Archer: He has been brilliant up forward and always looks like he is ready to kick a bag of goals. The excitement on Maxy's face makes this shot even better.
Hannah Singleton: With her silky skills and amazing passion to get the women's team on the field this year, Hannah brings the energy and love for the club every week.
Alex Lukic: The big man is an inspiration on the field and easy on the lens - and always brings a great "celly" after every goal. His bag of 8 goals in the 42-point win against Beaumaris was a masterclass.
Hugh Johnson: They don't come any bigger than Big Hughy. Fantastic to have him back at the club and big hughyjayy in full flight is a sight to be seen and easy to photograph. A crowd favourite with his "yeaahhh baby" after every goal.
Will D'Amico: Amazing speed and skills, Rabbit has been electric. He had a day out with his 7 goals against Old Ivanhoe. The VAFA social posts summed it up - "If Lukic won't get you, D'Amico will."
Scott Beilby: What a ripper! Superb skills across the forward and back lines and loves a goal. Took a brilliant "speccy" against Old Carey that should be a contender for Mark of the Year. Brings everything onto the park - and more.
Will Pocknee: Just like a fine Tellurian wine, he just gets better and better! Mr Reliable delivers every week and is racking up the goals. Loves a goal and celebration - his efforts against Ajax and Old Carey were brilliant!
Jasper Davy: The human battering ram provides amazing defensive work and rebounds week-in, week-out. The legendary former Hawthorn coach Allan Jeans coined the phrase "a good driver in heavy traffic" and this easily applies to Jasper as he directs traffic off the backline.
Nico Levy: It was a joy watch and capture his first senior goal for the Lions - and what a way to burst onto the scene and make a name for yourself! Nico dodged, weaved and snapped a wonderful goal to help seal the match against Ajax. The celebration with the players warmed the heart.
Marlaina McPhillips: Leadership, passion and commitment personified - a great inspiration to getting the women's team going in '26 and gives 110% every week. Puts her heart into training and on the field on game day and never shy of the camera!
