Coaches comment:
An exciting day for the club, with Flynn Woolhouse and Jacob Marron making their debut. Club legend Brad Woolhouse did a great job presenting their jumpers in front of the 1961 premiership players who were having their reunion. Old Geelong had been in good form, and came out with good intensity.
We were very much up for the battle, and played a great brand of physical and pressurised football, which allowed to play the majority of the game in our forward. We had a significant lapse in the 3rd quarter which was disappointing, but were able to return to our brand of footy in the last. The 2 debutants were very impressive, and showed they were more than capable at the level.
Stand in Skipper Jim Bazzani was exceptional in the midfield, well supported by Franks, Johnson, Ong and Josh Walker. Jasper Davey also played an important role on their best mid. Billy Johnson’s gut running on the wing caused headaches for the opposition.
Sam Frost was instrumental down back, and Matty Warren won another important battle and continues his good form. Nick Canny also lead well, and assisted in the team conceding very little.
A well earned break this weekend before a big clash v Old Ivanhoe.

Coaches comments:
Our women’s Team went into yesterday’s game against Caulfield Grammarians focused and ready for the challenge, and that showed from the opening bounce.
We started extremely well and were well structured throughout the first quarter, building momentum as the term progressed. We moved the ball effectively into our forward 50 and, importantly, were able to lock it in with strong structure and pressure around the contest. We were winning clearances and controlled around 80% of the territory for the quarter. The game evened up in the second term as Caulfield adjusted their structure and began to work their way back into the contest.
They had some talented players who were able to find plenty of the football and use it effectively, allowing them to gain the lead heading into the second half. The third quarter became a real arm wrestle. It was a low-scoring, contested game, with Caulfield having more of the possession but our team continuing to create opportunities. We had chances to score but struggled to create the space and separation we needed inside forward 50, and at times rushed our ball use when opportunities presented themselves. Caulfield were also dangerous on transition, using their speed and kicking ability to move the ball quickly from one end of the ground to the other.
The final quarter was a really positive finish from our group. We made some structural changes midway through the term that opened the game up, and with five minutes remaining we kicked another goal to bring the margin back to eight points. From there, the team continued to apply enormous pressure, control territory and create opportunities. We were the team pushing hard to score in the closing minutes but couldn’t quite find the space and width needed to finish our work. One of the biggest positives from the game was the effort and resilience shown by the entire group. The tackling, pressure, contested work and willingness to keep grinding were what brought us back into the game and gave us an opportunity late.
The players continued to work for each other right until the final siren. We now have a week off to refresh our bodies and minds before returning for Round 12. There is plenty to build on from this performance as we continue working towards a strong finish to the season.

Coaches comments:
A good performance over four quarters saw a comfortable win over Old Geelong. The goal kickers were spread across nine players, led by U19 player Alex Elg (3 goals) in an excellent first up Reserve game. Will Houghton who usually plays on the wing, was very good in his first game in defence for the team and Ben Hill had his best game for the side, up forward. Zac Bowes, Jake Cotchin, Jack Howard, and Oliver Andrews were again strong players. Kulang Kulang stood up in the ruck and Sam Hibbins in his first game organised the midfield who dominated general play, led by Kobi George who kicked 2 goals. Selection only gets more difficult from here, with seven games left.
