Coaches comments:
It was a very pleasing outing against old Geelong at Como Park, where we were able to produce our best 4 quarter effort of the season.
Our contested footy and pressure enabled us to play the majority of the game in our forward half. As the day progressed, we were able to gradually extend our lead on the scoreboard. Most pleasingly, everyone stuck to a team-first brand of football right through to the end.
Lukic continued his excellent form with 6 goals. Other forwards in Jimmy archer and Dan orgill were dangerous and able to provide great pressure.
The midfield were very impressive, with Franks and Ong leading the charge. Will Oakley Kerr also continued his great form on the wing and got great reward with 2 goals.
The backline was steadfast, with Warren and Perry both playing great roles for the team.
It was great to See Mario Mckeown get a very deserving debut. Mario got better as the day went on, and was also rewarded with a terrific goal.
We take on old Ivanhoe this week, Who appear to have hit their straps with a big win over Carey. We look forward to another great challenge.

Coaches comments:
On Saturday, our Collegians women took on Monash Blues at Harry Trott in Mother’s Day Round and Marlaina McPhillips’ 50th game.
Congratulations on 50 games, Marz is— such an important part of the women’s program. Well done!
It was a very wet morning at Harry Trott, which made the game a battle of wills for much of the day. The women played tough football and applied themselves to the task of adapting to the conditions. They tackled hard and ran to support each other.
The team is showing how well they’ve gelled together and are proving to be a massive challenge for whoever they come up against.
Reserve Men
Old Geelong (3-6-24) def by Reserve Men (6-8-44)
Best players:
Zak Bowes, Wilson MacDonald, Alex Gebert, AJ Walker, Arley Wilson, Jack Howard.
Goal Kickers:
Adam Petracca 2, Arley Wilson 2, Ben Meachem 1, Will Dean 1.
Coaches comments:
On a wet drizzly day, we fronted up to the largest oval in the VAFA (Como Park) facing two separate slippery wicket tables 35m out from each goal square. While confident, the size of the oval and conditions would make scoring more difficult.
A lead of 4 points at 1/4 time, 6 points at 1/2 time and 5 points at 3/4 time was a reflection of the tightness of the match. The backlines of both sides were on top and our backline led by Harry Stack and acting Captain Zak Bowes defended grimly for 15 minutes straight in the second quarter, to hold out a tenacious Old Geelong. The midfield was involved in stoppage after stoppage. Ruckman Ben Monahan was getting his hand on the ball and AJ Walker and Wilson MacDonald were managing to squeeze the ball out of the large packs that were forming.
The rain eased during the game and conditions had improved by 3/4 time. Adam Petracca was looking dangerous up forward with 2 goals, but he needed a hand if we were going to win. The move of Arley Wilison up forward paid dividends. He looked calm and clean under pressure, kicking two very good goals in the last quarter, to enable the team to breath more easily over the last 5 minutes winning by a hard fought 20 points.

Goal kickers:
Nico Levy 5, Harry Robbins 3, Will Rahilly 3, Luc Murphy 2, Alex Elg 2, Will Scott 1, Bailey Currie 1, Tom Zantuck 1, Jonte Crawford-Flett 1.
Coaches comments:
Round 4 saw us off to Brunswick oval to face a team on the same number of wins as us. In what was a tight opening quarter, scores were pretty even at quarter time. Too much was left to too few, and this needed to change. We took control in the second quarter with 6 goals to 2 to take a 4 goal lead into half time. The second half really opened up and we were able to keep them scoreless for the half. In the end we had 9 individual goal scorers and were able to spread the load. It was clearly our best game for the season as we ran away with an 88 point win. Thanks to the supporters and helpers on the day.
