Coaches comments:
We jumped out of the blocks on the weekend, producing one of our better first halves of the season. Highlights included our contested football, slick ball movement by hand and strong conversion in front of goal. We also defended the ground well and played the majority of the half in our forward 50. Credit to Old Carey, who bounced back to clearly be the better side in the second half. Skipper Campbell Walker was exceptional, well supported by the ever-consistent Jim Bazzani and Kenny Ong. Nick Canny continued his strong form down back, as did Sam Frost and Ben van Twest. Zac Greeves was prominent all day, both on the wing and up forward. Young Flynn Woolhouse again showed his talent, kicking three goals and having a hand in several others. It was also great to have Alex Lukic back after a few months out, slotting in seamlessly with four goals. We now look forward to a top-four clash away against Old Camberwell next week.

Coaches comments:
The Two Blue Lions recorded a huge victory over ladder leaders Parkvale Vultures in a complete team performance that has given the group plenty of belief and confidence heading into the final two rounds of the season. The midfield set the tone from the opening bounce, with Trinity Meachem, Sheldon Menzies, Katy Perree and Aoife O'Driscoll outstanding around the contest. Their grunt work at the coalface restricted the Vultures' ball use, while the relentless forward pressure from the entire forward line kept the ball locked inside the attacking 50 for long periods, giving the forwards repeat scoring opportunities. The side burst out of the blocks with excellent energy and intent, with Madeline Marquet-Walker slotting an early first-quarter goal. The second and third quarters developed into a tight, hard-fought contest, with momentum swinging between the two sides. The defensive unit, led by Ruth Sheridan, Mikalya Collins and Ciara Kelly, stood tall under repeated forward entries and restricted the Vultures to just two goals for the entire match. Holding a one-goal advantage at the final change, the challenge was set for the team to lift once more. The response was emphatic, with the girls producing a dominant final quarter, kicking four unanswered goals to seal an impressive victory. Marquet-Walker finished with a game-high four goals in a dominant display across half-forward. Across half-back, April Pierlot was instrumental with her ability to win the football, her line-breaking dash and composed ball use, setting up a number of the side's scoring opportunities. Alice Leahy continued her excellent run of form, providing valuable support in the ruck while also making a significant impact around the contest with her strength and competitiveness. The challenge doesn't get any easier this weekend when the Two Blue Lions take on Hawthorn. It presents another exciting opportunity for the group to test themselves, and after such a brilliant team performance, they'll head into the contest full of confidence.

Coaches comments:
We knew we were going to be challenged, as Carey needed to win to stay in the four and they had picked a particularly good side, with nine of their players having played in the Seniors during this year. We attacked early but could not find any connection with our forwards. Carey kicked the first and second goal and we found ourselves in the back foot, eight points down at quarter time. Our second quarter was very good, as we kicked five goals and held Carey goalless. Kobi George was providing a target down forward for our midfield and our backline was strong and providing excellent run. Good players included Luke McCleary, Cooper Brennan, and Zak Bowes, who were all paying across the half backline. Will Houghton and Mario McKeown were driving the ball long from the wings and we saw ourselves well on top at halftime.The second half was even, and we saw solid performances from Al Nolan down back, Oliver Andrews in the midfield and some quality skills from Alex Elg up forward. An all-round solid performance against good opposition.
U19’s

Coaches comments:
Back-to-back games at Harry Trott Oval saw us take on Brunswick. With nine changes coming into the side, there was always some concern about how quickly we would gel as a team. The first quarter began in slippery conditions. We fumbled the ball on several occasions, and Brunswick appeared to handle the conditions better. Despite this, we took an 11-point lead into quarter time. The second quarter was much the same. Although we wasted a few opportunities in front of goal, we held a nine-point lead at the main break. Our tactic of moving the ball quickly into the forward line, allowing our forwards to run onto it, proved dangerous and resulted in plenty of scoring opportunities. By the third quarter, the ground conditions had improved as the dew dried up. This allowed us to move the ball with greater speed and use our overlap handball game. The result was a seven-goal-to-none quarter, blowing the game open and giving us a 55-point lead at the final change. Pleasingly, the momentum continued into the last quarter, and we eventually ran out comfortable 74-point winners.
