Coaches comments:
A very pleasing win V OM’s on the weekend. It was a hot footy early, with OM’s showing their strength in the contest. As the quarter went on, we were able to gain some ascendency around the footy, and we used the ball quite well. Our forward half pressure, and ability to generate F50 stoppage goals was a highlight. The backline were at their best, thwarting any attack and often launching ours. The likes of Davy, Canny, Frost and Warren continue their terrific form. We were also lucky to have Sam Sofronidis in for his first game of the year, who played a strong game. C Walker, Ong and Bazzani were terrific around the ball. The forward line worked together well as a unit, and provided great options all day. Damico finished with a well deserved 3, as did Josh Walker who was all class. We look forward to playing Ajax who really tested us early in the year.

Coaches comments:
We travelled down the road to Elsternwick Park to play Old Melburnians who were third on the ladder. We fell across the line in round nine at the Harry Trott, by seven points and thus were expecting a tight game. In the first quarter we were well on top across the ground but found scoring difficult. We found ourselves up by a couple of points at quarter time but had kicked into a gentle breeze. The second quarter was a repeat of the first, but we managed to hit the score board a few times, which saw as take a comfortable 20-point lead into the half time break. The backline was on top of their opponents and the midfield was giving good supply to the forward line, enabling Fergus Ekins to have kicked three goals by the break.Old Melburnians surged back into contention with a couple of quick goals to narrow the margin to seven points. A good late goal was kicked by Arley Wilson, as a result of some excellent ball movement from our backline. At the start of the last quarter we were leading by fourteen points, with the breeze behind us. An early goal to Sam Hibbins gave us some much-needed breathing space and we ran out winners by a comfortable twenty-nine points. Lucas Heriot, Tim van Twest and Cooper Brennan were very solid, and Al Nolan provided some crucial spoils at critical points in the game. The mid field was led well by ruckman Will Dean, enabling plenty of opportunity for Wilson MacDonald and a very consistent Herchel Waters. Will Houghton on the wing worked hard all day and played another fine game. Down forward Fergus Ekins with four goals, always looked dangerous and Sam Hibbins with six marks provided a focal point for the team. The coach while happy with the result wanted to see more tackles of substance, greater effort to reward the runner and better defence from the forward line. All skills to be worked on.

Coaches comments:
Our final game of the season was against Old Xavs 19s 2 at Stradbroke Park. It’s fair to say Xavs had put the cue in rack for the year, unable to make finals. We began the game strongly controlling centre bounce, leading to scoring opportunities. A 34 point lead at quarter time. The second quarter was very similar with us scoring strongly. Some chains from D50 to F50 were the best we’d seen all year. Taking on the corridor or open side, going end to end on a number of occasions. We held a 68 point lead at half time, which had pretty much put the game to bed. During the third quarter we began to think about finals and started to rotate and keep fresh many of the players. During the last quarter this continued to the point we took off a number of players with 10 mins to go to remove risk of injury. The final result was a 103 point victory. The result capped off a really positive season finishing minor premiers and earning ourselves a home final. There’s a great feeling inside the tent and around the club. Bring on finals football.
