Coaches comments:
We were back at Harry Trott Oval this week to take on Old Ivanhoe, who were coming off a strong win and boast some really good top-end players. It was an arm wrestle in the first quarter, with Old Ivanhoe having the advantage of the wind, but ultimately we were pleased with how we responded. From that point on, we were really able to showcase our brand of football, highlighted by improved transition and intensity.
Our method going forward was pleasing, resulting in another accurate performance in front of goal.
The boys are continuing to gel, showing improved performances each week. Despite the pleasing results, we are still being challenged each week and know we need to continue improving.
Will Damico played his best game for the club and finished with seven goals. It was great to see a dedicated team man like Will get rewarded for his ongoing efforts.
Hugh Johnson and Kenny Ong continued their great form, while Herschel Waters played an important role for the team.
The backline was once again resolute, led by Davy Warren and Will Pewtress.
We look forward to taking on AJAX this weekend

Annabel Schmidt 2, April Pierlot 1, Alina Meich 1, Mikayla Collins 1.
Coaches comments:
After being promoted on the back of 4 excellent games our women’s team had their first game in division 3 against Hawthorn.
The first quarter saw us kicking against the wind and we struggled to get clean possession under huge pressure and perceived pressure.
We were 26 points down going into the first break. We changed some things for the second quarter and the team dominated. This was so pleasing as there could have been panic and tee the first but the team lifted instead. We dominated possession and on the scoreboard. We ended up with 2.8 at the long break and only a few points down.
We continued to halve every contest and make every battle difficult for hawthorn and we headed into the last quarter within pouncing distance and with the wind.
It was an arm wrestle in the last quarter and each team kicked goals and had chances.
Ultimately we lost by 18 points but showed the sort of tenacity and resilience that can’t be taught.
Another great effort from the women, who continue to improve with each game.
Reserve men
11-18-84 def Old Ivanhoe 2-5-17
Best players:
Oliver Andrews, AJ Walker, Ben Monahan, Wilson MacDonald, Ben Meachem, Harry Stack.
Goal Kickers:
Oliver Andrews 3, Fergus Ekins 2, Cooper Brennan 1, Adam Petracca 1, AJ Walker 1, Lucca Castine 1, Lukasz Payne 1, Jordan Carroll 1.
Coaches comments:
A solid team performance, with a number of younger players improving each week.
Ollie Andrews with 3 goals is displaying confidence, as is young midfielder AJ Walker.
The backline is combining well, with Finn Wright having his best game for the season.
Two young key forwards in Ben Meacham and Jake Cotchin took 16 marks between them and gave the side real targets to kick to.
Zak Bowes, Cooper Brennan, Jordie Carroll, Jack Howard, and Wilson MacDonald are all playing very consistent football and are ready for Senior football, whenever an opportunity arises. Will Dean is also ready for an opportunity and must be congratulated on his comeback from a serious foot injury, which kept him out of the 2025 season. He has increased his playing time each week and played the full match on Saturday.
Steady improvement is what the team is chasing and the coach is pleased with what he is seeing.
U/19
8-12-60 def Parkside 7-15-57
Best players:
Rex Macalister, Nico Levy, Finneas Arnold, Lachie Nicholson, Alex Elg, Gabe Raik-Allen.
Goal kickers:
Nico Levy 4, Ned Rath 2, Jonte Crawford-Flett 1, Will Johnson 1.
Coaches comments:
We were back at the Trott for round 5 against 3rd placed Parkside. It was lacklustre first quarter, with skill errors and turnovers. This saw us down by a 1 point. The second quarter wasn’t much better and we headed to half time with an 8 point deficit. The only positive was we had probably played our worst footy for the season, but were still in the game. Some improvement was required in the second half and that began 3 goals in the third. This enabled us to hold a small lead into the last. The margin was small and we simply had to win the game, not just try to save it. Pleasingly, we were able to run the game out well, scoring 3 majors into the wind, doing enough to hold on by 3 points in the end.
Thirds
7-10-52 def by Mazenod 10-9-69
Best players:
Zac Hines, Louis Jorgensen, Leon Keam, Jaimie Tassone, Speridan Peterson, Fletcher Brennan.
Goal kickers:
Louis Jorgenson 2, Speridan Peterson 2, Odran Floyd, Quinn Schwarz 1, Jaimie Tassone 1.
Coaches comments:
The Panda’s faced Mazenod on Saturday morning, but were unable to get the chocolates, ultimately going down by 3 goals in a well fought match. Three early goals from the opposition proved too hard to overcome, and some wayward kicking and wasted opportunities from the Panda’s caused Penny to somehow lose even more hair.
Zac Hines was exceptional as a spare back and marked everything that came his way. Leon Keam was excellent as a link-up player and gave his all for four quarters. There were many brave passages of players putting their body on the line for the team, including memorable moments from Spiz, Benji and Jacko.
On a different day, the Panda’s may have gotten the four points. We take the lessons into next week where we face Williamtown at the Trott, where rumours have begun swirling of some veterans dusting off the boots for a return.
